Q&A

What is Old Falls Street?

Old Falls Street is basically the main drag through downtown Niagara Falls, NY, right across from the park entrance to the falls. It's a three-block pedestrian-friendly strip closed to cars, with a few chain restaurants, souvenir shops, a hotel, and a big events plaza. Think of it as the tourist hub where you'll find the Hard Rock Cafe, the visitor center, and a bunch of folks selling helicopter rides and boat tours. It's not the falls itself, but it's where you'll park, grab a slice of pizza, or catch a concert if one's happening.

Is it worth your time? Yeah, if you need to eat, use a clean bathroom, or buy a "I survived the Maid of the Mist" t-shirt. But don't expect charm—it's a commercial strip, not a historic district. The events plaza sometimes has free concerts or movie nights in summer, and there's a small playground for kids. Parking garages are nearby (expect $10-20 for the day). If you're only here for the actual falls and hiking trails, you can skip it. But if you need Wi-Fi, a Starbucks, or a last-minute rain poncho, it's your spot.
