Q&A

What are the best restaurants near Niagara Falls?

Best bang for your buck is The Syndicate Restaurant on Victoria Ave, about a 5-min drive from the falls. It's in an old bank building, great craft beer selection, and their burgers and poutine are legit. Entrees run $18-30, and you won't feel ripped off like at the tourist traps. Skip the Skylon Tower dining—overpriced and mediocre food, only worth it if you're desperate for the view and have cash to burn.

For something quick and iconic, hit Weinkeller on Victoria Ave for German-style sausages, pretzels, and a massive beer list. It's casual, under $20 a person, and right near the falls. If you want a proper sit-down with a view, Table Rock House restaurant inside the falls complex is decent for breakfast or lunch (think eggs benny for $20), but dinner is overpriced. Avoid Rainforest Cafe unless you have kids who need the gimmick—food is frozen Sysco garbage.

For a splurge, go to AG Inspired Cuisine on River Rd, about 10 min away. It's farm-to-table, $40-60 entrees, and actually worth it for a special night. Reservations are a must. Bottom line: don't eat within two blocks of the falls unless you're grabbing a quick slice from Boston Pizza (yes, it's a chain, but consistent and cheap).
