Q&A

Is the Whirlpool Aero Car worth it?

Yes, it's worth it if you have a solid hour and want a genuinely unique view that most tourists miss. It's not a thrill ride—it's a slow, open-air cable car that glides over the actual Niagara Whirlpool. You'll see the massive, churning rapids and the gorge walls from above, which is way more dramatic than the falls overlooks. It costs about $20 CAD per adult (2024 price), and the round trip takes roughly 10-15 minutes each way, plus time to hang out on the other side and take photos. Go on a clear day, or skip it if it's foggy or rainy—you'll just see grey.

That said, it's not a "must-do" if you're short on time or only here for the falls themselves. The Aero Car is about a 10-minute drive north of the main tourist area, and there's nothing else right there except a small parking lot and a trailhead. If you're already doing the Niagara Glen hike or visiting the Butterfly Conservatory, it's a perfect add-on. But if you're just doing the Falls, the Hornblower boat, and the Clifton Hill stuff, you won't miss much by skipping it. Just know it's a chill, scenic ride, not a heart-pumper—so manage your expectations.
