Is the Journey Behind the Falls worth it?
Yes, it's worth it, but only if you do the full experience and don't mind getting wet. For about $24 CAD per adult, you take an elevator 125 feet down through the bedrock, walk through tunnels that put you right behind the massive curtain of Horseshoe Falls, and then step out onto two outdoor observation decks. You'll get absolutely soaked on the lower deck (they give you a cheap poncho, but wear sandals or a rain jacket), and the roar is deafening. It's a quick 30-45 minute loop, but that moment standing directly behind the falling water is genuinely cool and unique.
Skip it if you're only planning to see the falls from above and don't want to deal with crowds or damp clothes. It's not a "must-do" like the Maid of the Mist boat tour (which is better for the full spray and rainbow experience), but if you want to get literally inside the falls, this is your only option. Pro tip: go early in the morning or after 4 PM to avoid the worst lines, and don't bother with the "night tour" add-on—it's just the same tunnels with colored lights, and it's not worth the extra cash.
