Niagara Falls sits on both sides of an international border, which means your dining options span two countries, two currencies, and two very different dining scenes. The US side skews local and unpretentious — diners, family spots, the occasional hidden gem. The Canadian side has the tourist infrastructure: revolving towers, hotel restaurants with falls views, and a strip that feeds a million visitors a year.

Both are worth knowing. This list covers both.

Where to Eat: 15 Restaurants on Both Sides

# Restaurant Side Cuisine Why go
1 🇺🇸 Amy's Place [local gem] US American Diner A local hidden gem on Buffalo Ave steps from the Crowne Plaza — cash-friendly breakfast and lunch spot favored by regulars over tourist traps.
2 🇺🇸 The Top of the Falls Restaurant US American Inside Niagara Falls State Park with direct views of Bridal Veil Falls — the only table-service restaurant actually on the US park grounds.
3 🇺🇸 Fortuna's Restaurant US Italian-American A Niagara Falls institution since 1946, still serving red-sauce Italian in a no-frills dining room that locals have been filling for decades.
4 🇺🇸 Hard Rock Cafe Niagara Falls USA US American Reliable burgers and memorabilia on Old Falls Street — touristy but consistent, and the outdoor patio has decent people-watching.
5 🇺🇸 Savor at the Embassy Suites US American Hotel restaurant at Embassy Suites on Third Street with a solid breakfast spread and dinner menu — better than its location suggests.
6 🇺🇸 Gallagher's Restaurant & Bar US Pub food / Irish A genuine neighborhood bar on Pine Avenue that actually feeds locals — wings, sandwiches, cold beer, no postcards on the menu.
7 🇺🇸 Bob Evans US American family Nothing fancy, but a dependable, affordable sit-down breakfast option on Military Rd that beats most tourist-zone alternatives dollar for dollar.
8 🇨🇦 Queenston Heights Restaurant Canada Canadian / Continental A Niagara Parks gem perched atop the escarpment with sweeping vineyard views and a seasonal menu leaning on local Ontario produce.
9 🇨🇦 Elements on the Falls Canada Fine Dining Fine dining inside the Sheraton on the Falls with a direct Horseshoe Falls view — go for the tasting menu if the occasion calls for it.
10 🇨🇦 Skylon Tower Revolving Dining Room Canada Continental Completes one full rotation every hour at 775 feet — the food is solid; the reason to go is watching Horseshoe Falls shrink and grow as you turn.
11 🇨🇦 Brasa Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse Canada Brazilian Churrasco All-you-can-eat rodizio service steps from Clifton Hill — carnivores leave stunned; the salad bar alone is worth the cover.
12 🇨🇦 Zappi's Pub & Grill Canada Canadian Pub Reliable Clifton Hill-area pub with wood-fired pizza, big screens, and a patio that works even on grey Niagara days.
13 🇨🇦 Penthouse Restaurant (Minolta Tower) Canada Continental Less famous than Skylon but often less crowded — revolving views of both falls at a slightly lower price point.
14 🇨🇦 AG Inspired Cuisine Canada Modern Canadian Award-winning restaurant at Sterling Inn using hyper-local Niagara Region ingredients — the kind of meal you remember after the trip ends.
15 🇨🇦 Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria Canada Italian Tucked off the main tourist drag, a family-run Italian that Niagara Falls locals actually recommend when visitors ask where they eat.

A quick note on eating in Niagara Falls

The tourist strip on the Canadian side (Clifton Hill and surrounding blocks) is convenient but pricey. If you're on the US side, Pine Avenue is where locals actually eat — drive 10 minutes from the park and the prices drop dramatically. On the Canadian side, anything within two blocks of Clifton Hill adds a "you're a tourist" surcharge to the bill. A 10-minute walk back toward the hotel zone or into residential Niagara often cuts the same meal in half.

Practical notes

  • Currency: Canadian restaurants don't accept USD (or quote an unfavorable rate). Use a credit card with no foreign transaction fees.
  • Reservations: Falls-view restaurants at the Sheraton, Skylon Tower, and AG Cuisine book out weeks ahead on summer weekends. Call ahead.
  • Tipping: 18–20% is standard on both sides. Canadian servers depend on tips just as much.
  • Bring cash for Amy's Place. Worth the trip from anywhere on the US side.
