Q&A

Can I see Niagara Falls at night?

Yes, absolutely. The Falls are lit up with colored lights every night starting at dusk until around 2am (midnight during the off-season). It's free to see from the public viewing areas, and it's a completely different vibe from daytime—way more dramatic and romantic. The best spot is the Table Rock Centre viewing area on the Canadian side, hands down. Don't bother with the "Illumination Cruise" unless you really want a freezing, overpriced boat ride in the dark; just walk the promenade.

If you're here in the summer, stick around for the fireworks show. They run nightly at 10pm from mid-May to mid-October, and they launch right over the Falls. You can watch them for free from the same spots, but get there 20 minutes early to grab a rail spot. Also, the Falls themselves are never turned off at night, so you'll get the full roar and mist even after dark. Just bring a jacket—it gets chilly even in July once the sun goes down.
