Q&A

Are the falls lit up at night?

Yes, the falls are lit up every single night of the year, rain or shine. The lights come on at dusk and stay on until around 10pm or midnight depending on the season—usually 10pm in winter, midnight in summer. It's a free show, and the best view is from the Canadian side, either at Queen Victoria Park or from the Skylon Tower observation deck if you don't mind paying for the elevator.

If you're here on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night during summer and fall, they also do a 5-minute fireworks show at 10pm. It's worth sticking around for, but honestly, the colored lights on the mist and water are the real draw. Just don't bother with the "Illumination Cruise" boat rides—you can see it perfectly fine from land without spending $30.
